Or contact us at info@nysan.org to discuss how you could start a network in your region.

Advocate for Changes

Advocate for changes in state and national policy to provide increased funding and create a more coordinated statewide afterschool system. You can also sign up to receive action alerts about critical afterschool funding and policy issues from the Coalition for After-School Funding or the Afterschool Alliance.

Publicize AfterSchool in your Community

Let others know about the good work of afterschool programs in your community. NYSAN can help you to:

  • Host an event as part of the annual national campaign Lights On Afterschool! to be held in October 2008.
  • Invite key public officials and opinion leaders in your community to visit exemplary afterschool programs and learn about their benefits and needs first-hand.
  • Send a letter to the editor or write an opinion piece for your local newspaper about why afterschool matters and needs community support.

Attend an Event

Sign up to attend a state conference or regional event to receive the latest training and network with peers from around the state. View the TASC Calendar of Events for information on training events.

Involve your business

There are many reasons, and many opportunities, for the business community to join the afterschool movement. Afterschool programs support working parents and guardians by providing a safe, enriching environment for youth during work hours. Additionally, afterschool programs develop tomorrow's workforce by teaching them crucial skills. To learn more, please read Business and Afterschool: The Perfect Partnership.
